FAQ

Platforms and Devices

Q: Is there an equivalent Android version?

A: Short answer - no. The Apple Watch is a crucial element in Auto-Umpire, and the smartwatch market on Android is smaller and much more fragmented than Apple's. More details will be shared via a blog post in the future.

Q: Will there ever be an Android version?

A: Unlikely, but not impossible. If the Android wearables market improves significantly, or if there is a huge demand, I will reconsider, so do let me know if you are interested (you can start here). Until then, only iPhones will be supported.

Q: Is there an iPad version?

A: You can try installing it on the iPad, but it is not exactly optimized for now. The Apple Watch is a crucial element in Auto-Umpire, but iPads are incompatible with Apple Watches.

Interface

Q: Is iPhone large enough for the score to be seen?

A: More than enough! If you can see the shuttle at your opponent's baseline from your baseline, you can see your phone (in landscape) sitting next to the net post from the service position. Tried and tested.

Q: Why ads?

A: Short answer - as encouragement and incentive. I put in quite some investment to develop this app, and while I don't really expect to make much (or any) in return, every cent gives me the encouragement to continue giving this app my support. I believe that I have placed the ads as unobtrusively as possible with no compromise in general UI.

Q: What languages are supported?
A: As of now, only English.

Features

Q: Will you be adding new features in coming updates?

A: That depends on the demand. If I foresee there is demand for the feature, I will seriously consider adding it.

Q: I am having issues with a particular feature of the app. How do I provide feedback?

A: You can start here. You can choose to leave anonymous comments, but leaving some contact information could be useful in helping me gather important information required to diagnose issues.

Q: What information is required if I want to make a bug report?

A: The general information are (1) steps to reproduce, (2) expected results, (3) actual results, and (4) device information, including device model and iOS version. I would not say no to screenshots and videos as well.
